The holidays are here, and it’s no secret that tech products may be at the top of many shopping lists on Black Friday and beyond. In fact, a new poll finds that one in five Americans plan to gift new gadgets to their loved ones and friends this year. But if you’re shopping for the best tech gifts, it’s best to make sure you’re buying gadgets and devices that will last into the new year!
In a poll by ARRIS Composites, 73 percent said they wanted electronics with longer battery life. Nearly six in 10 (58%) are looking for portable gadgets that are more durable than older technology, and 40% want their next device to be lighter.
Interestingly, only a third said they plan to buy the “latest” technology by 2023. One in five simply wants to buy something with longer battery life, while 19% are buying a portable device with better compatibility with existing technology. In fact, a previous survey showed that when a smartphone or digital One in eight people experience anxiety when a device’s battery life is low.
For those eagerly awaiting the latest release this holiday season, 53% can’t wait for the next high-tech phone to hit the market. Another 25% are already lining up to buy the latest laptop, while 19% are anxious about the latest handheld video game filling store shelves. If you’re concerned that playing too many video games might be bad for your kids, a recent study suggests that regular gaming may actually boost their brain power!

Regardless of what’s on this year’s shopping list, the vast majority of Americans (91%) say they trust the reviews they read about the latest electronics. In fact, this latest poll of more than 1,000 consumers found that 96% of consumers do their homework before buying electronics. Nearly half (49%) spend a few days reading the latest gadget, while 25% say they actually spend weeks reading reviews.
So which gadget is trending this year that will put the biggest smile on your loved one’s face? For our findings, we visited 10 leading expert sites to find out which devices, games or gadgets consistently top 2022’s “must buy” or “best tech gifts” lists.
Kindle e-readers are the hits of the season

The device that lets users browse, buy, download, and read e-books, newspapers, magazines, and other digital media is not only one of the most recommended e-readers, but it’s also featured on multiple lists of the best tech products of the year.

“The XM4 checks all the essentials in the right box: they’re super comfortable, incredibly lightweight, they deliver amazing sound, and offer the best noise-cancelling,” wrote the team at Reviewed, which named the headphones the best General situation in 2022.
Sony WH-1000XM5
Speaking of “latest” technology, Sony’s new noise-cancelling headphones have received nearly as many rave reviews from tech pundits this year. However, if you wish to use the newer model, it will cost you about $400.
